Bye, Bye 2014!!!

Hello everybody! 

Merry Christmas !!!!!!

How are you? How are your Christmas holidays going?

Are they Ok? Do you start to feel bored? Where are you? Are you at home? At your grandparents’ house? At your antie’s…? Write something on the blog and tell me how you are spending these days…

This is what I’ve done so far (for the moment).I went to my parents’ house in the village to spend Christmas Eve (24^th December) and Christmas Day (25^th December). I went by train on 23^rd December. I set ‘The crib’ or ‘Manger’ (this is the Nativity Scene; typical Spanish decorations at Christmas). Here is a picture.

This is now, holidays!  But our last class of this year was a special one. We invited your parents and show them the comics and stories we had done with our dragon, Coby.

In your story, Coby went on an excursion with his class. They went to the museum with teacher Marta. Coby saw a butterfly and went after it. He got lost in the museum. Everybody was very worried. Coby found a police officer. Coby went back to find his classmates but he got lost again and started to cry. In the end, teacher Marta found Coby and they went back. The following day when the teacher told them to draw what they liked most at the museum, Coby draw a butterfly and teacher Marta, smiled!

And this is your comic. More adventures for Coby!

First, Coby went to the park with his friend, Eva. He had a great time. He saw a ‘Surprise Tree’ and he wished his family was there with him because it was so beautiful! The following day he went to Africa, to the jungle. There he met a magician that turned him into a toy! A stuffed dragon, not a real one! Next morning, Eva went to the zoo with her teddy dragon but … she lost it! Luckily, a warden of the zoo found Coby, and he gave it back to Eva.

And we finished the classes for the year 2014 with our Games’ Awards! Congratulations to our winner SILVIA!!!  Keep studying, participating, doing homework and you will win next term. Everybody can win!

On TV, when the year finishes there is a special programme with a summary of things that happened that year. Our most important piece of news was Coby, the pet dragon of our class, C5B Monday. This is the summary:

I Read Comics /My Mum Reads Books!

Monday 1^st December, 20014

Hello boys and girls!

How are you? I can see all of you are Ok and you are looking forward to Christmas holidays!

There isn’t English class next Monday, so when we see it will be the last day of class for this year; then, the holidays!

But before that, we have to tell our stories and the stories in our comics. Everybody has done a good job!

As usual, we started 

the class listening to you telling

about Coby’s week in 

your houses.

This is his second visit to your houses. In Coby’s second visit to Paula’s home, he has made new friends. Coby has made friends with Paula’s toys.

And Paula made a picture of it. Here it is.

Then, we learnt how to use the present with he, she and it.

We read about Nick’s father.

Nick’s father works in London.		I go to school in Leganés.
His office is in a big building.		My school is in a big building.
He gets up at six o’clock.		I get up at eight o’clock.
He washes in cold water.		I wash in warm water.

Marcos brought his part of the story and we could practise together.  

This is Marcos, Lucía and Sara’s story.

Marcos.

My name is Marcos and I live in Leganés. I am Spanish. I have a mum,  a dad and one brother. My favourite sport is football. My favourite food is pizza.

Coby is a dragon. Coby is ten years old. Coby goes to N. S. Carmen school.Coby’s teacher is Marta. Coby is going to the Prado Museum with Marta’s class. They are going to see pictures. Coby’s favourite subject is arts and crafts. He likes painting.

Coby is going on an excursion. He gets lost following a butterfly.

Lucía.

Coby is in the museum with his class. Coby is lost. Teacher Marta is very worried. Coby is worried. Coby finds a police officer. The police officer asks, ‘what’s the matter?’ Coby answers, ‘I got lost’. The police officer says, ‘They’re in the cafeteria. All your class’.

Sara.

They can hear a voice in the distance, ‘I’m here’. Marta and the police officer run and find Coby behind a statue. He was crying. He saw a butterfly , ran after it and got lost from the group. The teacher hugs Coby and says, ‘It’s Ok’. They continue the visit.

Next day in class, Teacher Marta asks the students to draw what they most liked from the visit. Coby drew a butterfly!

Look at the example and write sentences using the verbs: study, watch, finish, play, eat.

I start school at 9.00.     My mother starts work at 8.00

One sentence with ‘I’ .One sentence with my mother, my father, my friend, he, she etc. You can choose. But only one of them.

In total 2 sentences with each verb. 2with study, 2 with watch etc. 10 sentences altogether (in total).

Hello Everybody!

Marcos didn’t come to class because he was ill. Get better soon!

Well done to all of you!

Silvia enjoyed her second week 
with our dragon.

 The first time Coby was with her, she took him to the fair because it was fiestas. This time, Coby went to school with her. Silvia says that Coby is very intelligent and his favourite subject is maths. Coby helped Sivia do homework and they played computer games together.

David made the comic and Lucía wrote her part of the story. Well done!

Paula did homework and she wrote a comment on the blog! 3 comments! Good for you, Paula!

Marcos, don’t forget to bring your part of the story because we are going to rehearse! (practise)

We reviewed prepositions with the exercise from the blog.

We listened and answered true or false.

In our ‘Talk Show’ programme we talked about ‘Collections’.

We had a presenter and a guest. We took turns to be the presenter and then, we swapped. (Changed)

The presenter asked the guest:

·         How do you get the things you collect?

·         How many items do you have?

Then, we told the stories and adventures in our comics and stories. We need the first part of thestory.

For homework we are going to interview a friend, our father, our mother, our sister or our brother. Only one of them.

Gorgeous Comics & Fantastic End for Our Stories!

Hello everybody!

Congratulations to Silvia, Paula and Sara for their homework!!!

Your comics were very good. Sara’s end of the story was fantastic. You worked very hard. The other students are a bit absent minded (distracted). They forgot their stories at home! It doesn’t matter but, don’t forget to bring them to class next Monday. Please!!!

We have to practice our presentation of the stories and correct the mistakes.

More things. We learnt what ‘Pantomime’ is. You have the opportunity of seeing one ‘Panto’ performance if you want to.

Pantomime is a theatre play where the men actors are dressed as women to play female roles. The stories are based on traditional fairy tales and the public can participate from their seats. They can sing along or give applause to the goodies (good people in the story) or boo the baddies (bad people in the story).

David told us about his week with Coby.

We described the picture of a bedroom. Do you remember these things?

·           There are two tables and a bedside table.

·           There’s a wardrobe.

·           Are there any chairs? No there aren’t.

·           There are two shelves.

Remember:

There is a / an (only one thing. Singular)

There are (more than one thing. Plural)

And we also said where the things were. We reviewed prepositions.

·         The camera is on the bedside table.

·         The shelves are next to the bed.

·         The guitar is between the wardrobe and the table.

Do this exercise and practice prepositions.

My bedroom

We started a new lesson. In this lesson we are going to talk about collections.

For homework, write five sentences using these words: watch, read, play, listen to, collect.

And, answer these questions. If you don’t have a collection, invent it, it’s OK!

·         Do you have any collections? Yes, I do.

·         What do you collect? I collect (stamps, coins, cards etc.)

·         How do you get the things that you collect? I buy them, my friends give them to me, I trade (change) etc.

·         How many items do you have?

Bring something you collect to class and show us your collections!!!

This is the score for writing your stories or comics and for participating in class.
