Let's Talk About ... Our Families!

Monday 29th September,2014

Hi! How are you?

It was nice to see you again. I remembered your names! Good for me!

Yesterday we had a new student. His name is Marcos. Hi Marcos. Nice to meet you. Now David isn’t lonely among so many girls!

Well done. Everybody did their homework.

We started the class talking about our families. Some of you drew your family tree. Others wrote sentences about their families and another student entered the blog and did the listening exercise. Well done everybody!

Yesterday we learnt to talk about relations.

·         Harry is Mum’s son.
·         Jim is Louis, Chloe and
          Harry’s uncle.
·         Pam is mum’s mother.
·         Chloe is Louis and
          Harry’s sister.
·         Dad is mum’s husband.
·         Pam is Granddad’s
 wife.
We don’t say Chloe is the sister of Harry! No! We say:
Chloe is + (the name with ‘s) Harry’s + sister, mother, aunt etc.

So, Chloe is Harry’s sister

We did the listening exercise posted on the blog last week.
And we played “Hangman” online. We learnt new words: granddaughter, stepmother, grandchildren …

For homework, play hangman again and write five words related to the family that are new for you.

To play Hangman it’s necessary to know the alphabet. You can revise or learn it in here. Click on these links! The English Alphabet

We started OUR GAMES!
I gave points for “Hangman” + 2 more points for doing homework and some more for the correct sentences that you wrote. I was really generous! Marcos got 5 points because it was his first day.

This is the score of our first games!

We Start a New Course!

Monday 22nd September

Hi everybody! We have started our new course.
Nice to meet you!

What did we do in class?
We introduced each other:

What’s your name?
My name is David.
Nice to meet you.
Hello, my name is Sara.
Hi Sara, nice to meet you.

We played a game to learn our names:

My name is Mª Ángeles and I like music; her name is Paula and she likes pianos, his name is David and he likes drums, her name is Silvia and she likes swimming, her name is Sara and she likes singing and her name is Lucía and she likes libraries!

Remember: his for boys / her for girls!
I like, but he /she likes!

We made questions and answers to find out some personal information.
Do you remember the questions?
Part of your homework is answering these questions.
What’s your name?
What’s your surname?
How do you spell it?
How old are you?
Where do you live?
What year are you in at school?

We started talking about our families.
We have to write the names of three people in our family and tell who they are.
Example: Irene, Sergio, Ángel.
Who is Ángel? Ángel is my brother.
Who is Irene? Irene is my niece.
Who is Sergio? Sergio is my nephew.

This is the other part of your homework.
Write the names of five people in your family and tell me who they are.
Example: Julia is my aunt. María is my mother. Paula is my cousin etc.

And we ended the class with a couple (=two)of games.
Japanese whispers and hangman!
Silvia chose a very easy word that nobody could guess! Well done Silvia!
