Halloween Flipped Class!!!

Monday 27th October, 2014

Hello! How are you?

What did we do last Monday?

We started with Sara telling us how she spent the week with our little pet. She brought photos with our “Coby” and her sister. Sara is next to the table. Her little sister is sitting on the table and Coby is on the table. They are in Sara’s living room. There’s also a photo of them relaxing on the sofa and watching TV. They like Disney Channel…and Coby, too!

After that, we said what John’s family was going to do.

·         John’s grandmother has got a bag and a purse. She’s going to go shopping.
·         John’s father has got golf clubs (sticks to play golf). He’s going to play golf.
·         John’s brother has got a skateboard. He’s going to go skateboarding.
·         John’s mother has got a knife and an onion. She’s going to cook.
·         John’s grandfather has got a pair of glasses and a newspaper. He’s going to read the newspaper.

Later, we learnt some adjectives.
Some adjectives describe appearance (physical); others, personality.
Smart- funny- thin- tall- crazy- friendly- pretty- handsome- shy- short

You can play Hangman with adjectives in here!

Then, we prepared the materials for our flipped class! You did a good job. You had a lot of ideas and materials. WELL DONE TO ALL OF YOU!!!!
You prepared crosswords, word searches, bingos, decorations to colour and more things! And of course, everything related to Halloween!
 Did you enjoy being teachers?

Remember to do homework. You have to use the adjectives from the photocopy to describe appearance and personality of the members of your family.

As you worked very hard to prepare the class and you did it very well, everybody got 8 points!

Next Week is "Flipped Class"!

Monday 20th October, 2014

Hi kids! How’s everybody today?

Last week our little dragon lived with Paula and her family. They had lots of fun! They had a pajamas party! And the dragon met Paula’s sister, Paula’s mother and her father. Paula told us about it in class and brought these photos!

The week before, our dragon went to the fair with Silvia! Silvia also took a photo. Here it is!

And this week he is with Sara. I am sure they’re going to enjoy a lot!

In class we watched a video where a man outside a supermarket asked the people:
“What have you got in your bag?” People have got some tomatoes, milk, some dough to make a pizza, and more things! A lot of things!

We won points with exercises.

They have got a diamond.        They haven’t got a diamond.
The rabbit has got a long tail.   The rabbit hasn’t got a long tail.
They have got a party.                They haven’t got a party.

        ?
Has she got an apple?
Has he got a beard?
Have they got a diamond?
Has the rabbit got a long tail?
Have they got a party?

We talked about our Flipped class! Next week, after the break we are going to change classes and positions! You are going to be the teachers of other students. So, you have to prepare the class for them. I will help you during the first hour.
As next week is Halloween, you have to teach the other students words related to Halloween. Your ideas were: play “Japanese Whispers” with Halloween words and also “Hangman”. Tell horror stories. Make masks or fancy dresses. Do crosswords and a quiz with questions and answers.

On this link you can find a horror story to tell:
Your homework is to prepare something for the class you are going to teach to the other students. You can find something on the internet and print out one copy. I will print the rest.

What Have you Got in your Bag?

Monday 13th October, 2014

Hi kids!

First thing we did in class was saying “hello” to our dragon pet.

He enjoyed Silvia’s company a lot. Silvia told us that she went to the fair with him. She took a picture of her and our dragon in front of “The Mexican”. “The Mexican” is one of the rides at the fair. Silvia got on “The Mexican” but not with the dragon.  The dragon helped her with her homework and they watched TV together.
Thank you very much, Silvia, for looking after him so well!
This week is Paula’s turn to look after him. She will tell us on Monday what they did together. You still have the whole weekend to enjoy his company!!!

We listened to the descriptions of the family.

What's new? We Have a Pet and it is ... a Dragon!!!

Monday 6th October, 2014

Hello kids! How are you?

We have novelties this week What’s new?

We have a pet for the class, in fact for the whole school! It’s not alive (real). It’s a dragon!!!
The dragon is going to spend a week in our houses and we have to look after it (take care of). We have to feed it (lunch, breakfast…), put it in bed, (it needs to sleep!) and we can do different activities. This weekend it’s Fiestas in San Nicasio, so, you can take it to the fair and get on the rides with it. I hope it doesn’t feel sick! (vomit). And it can also help you to do your homework.
This week, our dragon is visiting Silvia’s family. Let’s see what she tells us next week!
We voted for a name for our dragon. The winner in our class was “Coby”. (Silvia’s suggestion). Don’t forget that we have to vote through Facebook for its name. Every class proposes a name and all the school can vote for their favourite name.

In class, we corrected homework. We continued talking about the family and we played a “Trivia Family”. There was a draw (same points) between two teams. Our boys’ team: “The Unstoppable” and our girls: “The Savia’s” (From Sara and Silvia). It was very interesting and funny!
You wrote the questions yourselves and it was great!

We described the clothes that the family in our books is wearing and also what they’re carrying.

·           Wear: for clothes, glasses, make-up, a ring, earrings etc.

·           Carry: things in your hand.

The grandmother is wearing
a pink dress, a purple coat and purple shoes. She is carrying
a bag.
The boy with orange hair is wearing blue shorts, a red jacket, white socks and trainers. He is carrying a racket and a tennis ball.
(We will continue with this next Monday)

Here’s a link where you can learn about clothes

For homework, write a short paragraph (5 or 6 sentences) about your family.
Like this:
I’ve got a small family. My mother’s name is Susan and my father’s name is Peter. I’ve got a brother. His name is Robert but his friends call him, Bob. He likes playing football and swimming. But he doesn’t like studying!
(Don’t copy it! It’s an example!)

And we finished the class playing ‘Japanese Whispers’
