Collect, Watch, Read, Play, Listen to ...

Monday 24th November, 2014

Hello Everybody!

Marcos didn’t come to class because he was ill. Get better soon!

Well done to all of you!

Silvia enjoyed her second week
with our dragon.

The first time Coby was with her, she took him to the fair because it was fiestas. This time, Coby went to school with her. Silvia says that Coby is very intelligent and his favourite subject is maths. Coby helped Sivia do homework and they played computer games together.
David made the comic and Lucía wrote her part of the story. Well done!
Paula did homework and she wrote a comment on the blog! 3 comments! Good for you, Paula!

Marcos, don’t forget to bring your part of the story because we are going to rehearse! (practise)

We reviewed prepositions with the exercise from the blog.
We listened and answered true or false.

In our ‘Talk Show’ programme we talked about ‘Collections’.
We had a presenter and a guest. We took turns to be the presenter and then, we swapped. (Changed)
The presenter asked the guest:

·         What do you collect?
·         How do you get the things you collect?
·         How many items do you have?

Then, we told the stories and adventures in our comics and stories. We need the first part of thestory.
For homework we are going to interview a friend, our father, our mother, our sister or our brother. Only one of them.

Gorgeous Comics & Fantastic End for Our Stories!

Monday 17th November, 2014

Hello everybody!

Congratulations to Silvia, Paula and Sara for their homework!!!
Your comics were very good. Sara’s end of the story was fantastic. You worked very hard. The other students are a bit absent minded (distracted). They forgot their stories at home! It doesn’t matter but, don’t forget to bring them to class next Monday. Please!!!
We have to practice our presentation of the stories and correct the mistakes.

More things. We learnt what ‘Pantomime’ is. You have the opportunity of seeing one ‘Panto’ performance if you want to.
Pantomime is a theatre play where the men actors are dressed as women to play female roles. The stories are based on traditional fairy tales and the public can participate from their seats. They can sing along or give applause to the goodies (good people in the story) or boo the baddies (bad people in the story).

David told us about his week with Coby.

We described the picture of a bedroom. Do you remember these things?
·           There are two tables and a bedside table.
·           There’s a wardrobe.
·           Are there any chairs? No there aren’t.
·           There are two shelves.

Remember:
There is a / an (only one thing. Singular)
There are (more than one thing. Plural)

And we also said where the things were. We reviewed prepositions.
·         The camera is on the bedside table.
·         The shelves are next to the bed.
·         The guitar is between the wardrobe and the table.

Do this exercise and practice prepositions.

We started a new lesson. In this lesson we are going to talk about collections.
For homework, write five sentences using these words: watch, read, play, listen to, collect.
And, answer these questions. If you don’t have a collection, invent it, it’s OK!

·         Do you have any collections? Yes, I do.
·         What do you collect? I collect (stamps, coins, cards etc.)
·         How do you get the things that you collect? I buy them, my friends give them to me, I trade (change) etc.
·         How many items do you have?
Bring something you collect to class and show us your collections!!!

This is the score for writing your stories or comics and for participating in class.

What Are We Going to Do for our End of Term Project?

Monday 10th November, 2014

Hi kids! How’s everybody today?

We did lots of things in class last Monday.

We started asking Lucía about her week with the dragon.
Yes, I made a mistake!!! Sorry!!! Last week I posted the photo of Sara and the dragon but I wrote Lucía. It wasn’t Lucía, it was Sara!!! Anyway, look at the blog again because I have corrected it.Even adults can be wrong!

This is Lucía.  In this picture she is dancing and her brother is cuddling (putting his arms around) Coby. And in the other picture she is performing a theatre play with our little pet!

We corrected homework. Player 3 had an extra point because she answered the questions on the blog.

We talked about our end of term project.
Silvia, David and Paula are going to make a comic. The star is going to be our dragon. Silvia is going to dothe first part: introduction of the character and then she is going to invent (make up) an adventure of Coby in the forest.
In the introduction she’s going to tell us the dragon’s name, where he lives, something about his family (brothers, sisters etc.) and what he likes doing in his free time.
Paula is going to write a story about Coby in the zoo and David is going to write a story about Coby in the jungle. And these stories are going to make our comic.

Marcos, Lucía and Sara are going to tell us a tale (story) about the day Coby got lost in the museum.
Marcos is going to write about Coby and school. The name of the school he goes to, the year he is in, at school. His favourite subjects and the subjects he doesn’t like. (Subjects: maths, P.E., science, English, history etc.)

Then, Lucía is going to describe the excursion. What time the bus leaves, what museum the school is going to, where they are going to meet and what is going to happen at the museum. Finally, Sara is going to tell us how Coby got lost, how he felt (sad, happy, frightened) and if he found the rest of his classmates or not. Did they call the police? Did the teachers find Coby? Did a classmate find Coby?

We had time in class to learn word for entertainment. Activities to do in our free time.

See a baseball game.
Go to a dance club.
See a dance performance.
Go to a museum.
See a soccer match (football)
Go to the zoo.
See a play
Go to a café
See an opera
Go to a concert.

Go to a golf tournament
Have a picnic.

Finally, we interviewed our classmates.
·         Are you going to have a picnic this weekend?
·         Yes, I am.
·         When are you going to go?
·         I’m going to go on Sunday.
·         Who are you going to go with?
·         I’m going with my mum, dad, sister, aunt, uncle and my cousins.

For homework, start writing your part of the story or comic. We are going to correct it in class.
And do this exercise on the blog.

What are you going to do?

Monday 3rd November, 2014

Hello everybody.

Last week our dragon enjoyed the company of Marcos’s family.

The dragon slept with Marcos. In this photo we can see Marcos in his bedroom. He’s wearing blue pyjamas. They are ready to go to bed. Sweet dreams to both of you!

And these are Sara and her sister with Coby last week.

We talked about “Flipped Class” it seems you liked it a lot. You enjoyed being teachers for a day. It’s hard work, don’t you think? Especially when the kids don’t listen to you!

Then, we interviewed our classmates. The topic of our interviews was
“How my family spends the weekend”

We worked in pairs. One was the interviewer (asked the questions) and the other student was the interviewee (answered the questions). We took turns being interviewer and interviewee.

The questions were:

·         What activities do you do with your family at the weekend?
·         What activities do you do on your own?
·         Why do you like to spend time with your family?
·         What do you enjoy most about the weekend? (In other words, what’s your favourite thing about the weekend?)

·         I _________________________with my family.
·         I _____________________________ on my own.
·         I like to spend time with my family because _______________________
·         What I enjoy most about the weekend is that ______________________

You can write the answers to these questions on the blog.

And we finish the class learning to use “Going to” for our future plans.
What are you going to do next weekend?

My plans for next class: we are going to speak about things we are going to do.
You can start practising on this site.

For homework, ask your parents about their plans using the expressions on the photocopy.
Questions are like this:
Are you going to go to a café?
Are you going to go to a baseball game?
Are you going to….?
Etc.
