Games, Videos and a Prize!

Monday 22nd June

Hello girls!
Eva, are you Ok? We didn’t see you yesterday. Are you on holiday?
Of course you are! At least from school!
We’ll have holidays from the academy next Monday. I hope to see you because I’d like to wish you a nice, nice, nice summer!
Yesterday, Paula and I played a board game! The ordinals game.
We threw the dice and landed on different squares. We had to make up (invent) a sentence with the ordinal number that was written on the square.
·         My father’s birthday is on 2nd June.
·         My friend doesn’t live on the 14th floor.
·         He crossed the finish line on 33rd position.
·         Henry VIII lived in 16th century, I think!
Remember the ordinal numbers:

Then, we read and watch a video-book called: ‘The Four Friends’

When it finished, we watched an episode of ‘The Famous Five’

And we finished the class giving the prize of our last games to our winner: PAULA!
Congratulations, Paula!
I hope to see both of you, Paula and Eva, next Monday because it is our last day and I would like you to tell me what your plans for the summer are!

                                                           Congratulations Paula!!!!

Bye! Enjoy your weekend!!!!

Games, Games, Games...and a Video!

Monday 15th June,

Hi girls! Only three more days and you’ll have your summer holidays!

You’ll have to wait a bit more to have holidays from Learn & Enjoy! But it is funny to play games in English and watch the presentations of our work and the projects we have done during the course.

What did we do yesterday?

We started with Paula telling us about her last week with Coby. What did she tell us about? She did a great summary of Coby’s year with all of us. It was a farewell (when you say goodbye) because Coby started his holiday yesterday.

Then, we checked your homework.  Stewie (a character from the cartoon series, ‘Family guy’) told us about his family.
This helped us to talk about our daily routines and to review the present simple.

Negative
Interrogative

After that we did the listening from the assessment test and we revised the test. I answered your questions and doubts.

Then, we recorded a video explaining the project we did for ‘Design for Change’. As you know this is a charity (an association that helps people). Their work is focused on education and schools. On the video we also talked about the second hand market that we organized and that we are going to donate the money we had from there to the charity.
Both, Paula and Eva liked the project but what Paula didn’t like is that the other classmates left.

And we finished the class playing boarding games.
We played ‘The journey’. There are 8 cards with different pictures on them: a box of matches, a torch, keys, a sandwich etc. Each player has some of these cards. Then, they throw the dice and sart the journey, following the instructions on the board.
We reviewed be, can and have got, with this game.
Paula won!!!!

Then, we played ‘Who is it?’. We revised the questions: Has your person got…? Is your person wearing…? And Eva won!!!! So, we had a draw! (the same number of points)

And the class finished! No homework for next week! And we have already finished our games, too!
We’ll give the prize to the winner next week in class!
Enjoy your week.
See you on Monday!

Dracula & an Assessment Test!

Monday 8th June,

Hello girls!
How are you?

Last Monday we started the class with Paula showing us a video about Alexander Graham Bell. We couldn’t see it the previous week because it …disappeared! But we saw it last Monday. Thank you Paula!

Then, Eva told us about Coby and Bram Stoker. Bram Stoker is famous because he wrote ‘Dracula’. Eva told us about the novel ‘Dracula’ and about its author (writer). And she also drew a beautiful picture! Well done Eva!

After that, we had our ‘Assessment Test’. A series of exercises to show us what skills (writing, listening, speaking…) you should practise during the summer. Yes, summer is nearly here and it’s really nice having lots of time to play with our friends and rest. But don’t forget to do a bit of work because if you don’t, you will forget everything until the next course!
I’ll tell you your results next day. You may need to read a little more in English or to play games on the net (in English) to improve your vocabulary or watch cartoons or series in English, to improve your listening and pronunciation…Anyway, I’ll tell you next Monday.

Don't forget to do the exercises about present simple (only page1), for homework!

Let's Talk about the Country and the Forest.

Monday 1st June

Hello everybody! How are you?

It seems you have already decided to take summer holidays!
Yes, it’s very hot and I would like to go to the swimming pool. Wait a little while because summer isn’t here yet! Let’s make a little effort and finish the course and then…summer, holidays, swimming pool, beach …

Where’s Coby? He has disappeared! I hope he’s OK because last week he was meeting Bram Stoker; the person who wrote ‘Dracula’!

What did we do in class?
First, we read about Paul’s picnic in the countryside.
Paul and Jane are having a picnic in the countryside with their grandmother. It’s very hot. They’re sitting on the grass next to the river. Paul is feeding bred to the ducks. Jane and her granny are putting the food on the blanket. The bread is old and green. They can’t eat it. Paul is throwing the nice new bread to the ducks!

Then, we revised a little for the test.
Remember to review types of houses, vocabulary about the country and actions happening at the moment. I’m writing.

After that, we played ‘Guess who’.
Is the person wearing a hat?
Has the person got a beard?
Has the person got long fair hair?
Is the person wearing earrings?
Has the person got dark complexion (skin)?

And we finished the class watching an episode of the famous British story for kids ‘The wind in the Willows’.
The characters of this story are four animals that live in the countryside: Toad, Mole, Rat and Badger.

Paula has got 10 points today!

Revise for the test and see you next week.

Have a nice weekend
