How often? When?

Monday 26th January 2015

Hi everybody! How are you?

Hello David, what happened to you yesterday? I hope you are fine.

What did we do in class yesterday?

First, Paula told us about her week with Coby in London, the capital of England.
Look at the places they went and the buildings they visited. When you go to visit castles, palaces etc. we say that we go sightseeing. So, Paula and Coby went sightseeing in London.

After that, you told me what activities you do, who you do them with, when, where etc.
We still have some problems with the order! English is like a jigsaw (puzzle) and every piece has its place. Do you like jigsaws (puzzles)?

I

How often?

Who…with?

In the park.

When?

on Saturday.

Then, we listened to some people talking about their hobbies.

We watched a video to learn the difference between ‘When?’ and ‘How often?’
WHEN?
HOW OFTEN?
On Sunday
Always
in the morning
Usually
In 2015
Often
In March
Sometimes
At the weekend
Hardly ever
At six o’clock
Never

And finally we talked about our project for next term.

First we have to think about what things we don’t like in our neighbourhood (area). (You talked about how dirty the streets are because of the ‘droppings’ of the dogs.) Our project is going to be trying to change those things by telling the people about the problems there are in our area and giving ideas to solve these problems. This is a project that an NGO works in all over the world (in a lot of countries). This NGO is called Design for Change.
This is the video we watched in class but you can find more videos on youtube. The videos are in different languages. We are learning English, so our project (photos, video whatever you decide) is going to be in English.

For homework, we are going to have a ‘Talk Show’ with an interview about activities we do. Prepare the questions, please. And think of two or three things you don’t like in your neighbourhood and make a list (in English).

Enjoy your week and relax because we have a lot of things to do next week. We have to prepare ‘Flipped class’, play ‘Japanese whispers’, talk about our project…

Find the Differences and Tell me about the Activities you Do!

Monday 19th January,

Hello everybody!

What did we do last Monday?

Silvia showed us the photos of their visit to Italy with Coby! They enjoyed a lot.
With Silvia and Coby we looked at the map of Europe. We learnt where Italy is. We saw the flag of Italy, typical food etc. In one of the photos Silvia and Coby are eating spaghetti. Delicious!
Great presentation! Well done, Silvia! You get 5 points. (The top marks for the projects with Coby)

Then, we played a game in teams. You had different pictures of a bedroom. You asked questions so as to find ten differences between the two pictures. There was a draw! (a tie, a draw mean same number of points. Team 1 got 5 points; Team B got 5 points, too)
Let’s revise the questions you made:

·         Is there a train on the shelf? No, there isn’t.
·         Where is it? It’s on the shelf.
·         Are there trousers under the bed? No, there aren’t.
·         Where are they? They’re on the chair.
·         Is there a glass of water between the bed and the chair? No, there isn’t.
·         Where is it? It’s on the table.

SINGULAR
PLURAL
Is there a / an…?
Are there …?
No, there isn’t.
No, there aren’t.
Where is it?
Where are they?
It’s on …
They’re on ….

We talked about ‘how often’ we do things.

·         I listen to music everyday.
·         David usually plays football at the weekend.
·         Sara dances on Tuesday.
·         Eva goes to English class on Monday.
·         Silvia always does her homework.
·         Lucía goes out with her friends at the weekend.
·         Marcos sometimes plays computer games.
·         Paula never travels alone.
And we finished the class talking about what we do, how often, who we do it with and where we do it.

So, this is your homework:
Write 4 sentences saying what activity you do, how often who you do it with, where and when you do it.
David, use activities different from football, PLEASE!!!!

Example:
      ·     I usually paint pictures with my mother. I paint pictures at home on Saturday.
      ·     I sometimes run in the park. I run with my friends at the weekend.

And, that was all!  Next Monday, Paula we will tell us about Coby and their visit to England, London!!!

People and their Hobbies.

Monday 12th January, 2015

Hello dear class! Welcome back and Happy New Year!!!

First, I’d like to say ‘Hi’ to our new classmate. Her name is Eva.
I could see that you were very good last year because you had lots of present; both from Father Christmas and from the Three Wise Men!

Silvia and Sara posted what they did at Christmas on the blog. You can read it there! David and Lucía wrote it in their notebooks and told us. …and the rest of you, were too busy to write a little about your holidays…

We told Eva about our dragon ‘Coby’ and about our games competition.
We read about people telling about their hobbies.

Playing the violin. My parents bought it for me when I was six. I practice everyday. I play in a group.

Collecting stamps. There are different pictures and shapes. I stick them in albums. I have an album for each country.

Reading comics. They have stories about superheroes. I buy one every week. I look at the pictures.

Listening to downloads. I listen to music every evening. I download tunes from websites and store them on my iPod.

Then, we listened to people talking about their hobbies.

    1.        The first person likes reading comics and magazines. She likes travelling and fashion. She likes her hobby because it is exciting!

    2.        The second person is a boy. He likes playing computer games. He likes it because it’s very exciting to get to the next level of the game!

    3.        The third person likes playing the guitar. Her brother plays the violin. She likes her hobby because she enjoys playing with her sister.

    4.        Person fourth likes collecting old coins and stamps. His favourite stamps are those from Brazil.

To finish the lesson about hobbies and collections, you told me about your collections and hobbies.

This term, Coby is going to travel around the world with you! He is going to visit Italy with Silvia.
This is an example of how to write about Coby’s visits. (You cannot use this country).

Coby and I are in Spain. People speak Spanish in Spain.
We are in Madrid. Madrid is the capital of Spain. There are a lot of typical dishes in Spain, for example: cocido, paella and fabada. I like cocido and paella. Coby likes fabada.
Important festivals in Spain are Carnival and Easter.
Other important cities are: Barcelona, Valencia and Sevilla.
In Madrid we visited The Prado Museum, The Royal Palace and Puerta de Alcalá. We had a great time! Bye!
(You can record a video or take photos! It’s your week travelling with Coby!)

Homework. I gave you a photo of a bedroom. Write ten sentences describing that bedroom. Like these:

There is a (only one) train on the shelf.
There are (more than one)two shoes in the wardrobe etc.

Our first games! 2 points for homework , 6 for participating and behaving in class !
