How often? When?

Monday 26th January 2015

Hi everybody! How are you?

Hello David, what happened to you yesterday? I hope you are fine.

What did we do in class yesterday?

First, Paula told us about her week with Coby in London, the capital of England.
Look at the places they went and the buildings they visited. When you go to visit castles, palaces etc. we say that we go sightseeing. So, Paula and Coby went sightseeing in London.

After that, you told me what activities you do, who you do them with, when, where etc.
We still have some problems with the order! English is like a jigsaw (puzzle) and every piece has its place. Do you like jigsaws (puzzles)?

Then, we listened to some people talking about their hobbies.

We watched a video to learn the difference between ‘When?’ and ‘How often?’
WHEN?
HOW OFTEN?
On Sunday
Always
in the morning
Usually
In 2015
Often
In March
Sometimes
At the weekend
Hardly ever
At six o’clock
Never

And finally we talked about our project for next term.

First we have to think about what things we don’t like in our neighbourhood (area). (You talked about how dirty the streets are because of the ‘droppings’ of the dogs.) Our project is going to be trying to change those things by telling the people about the problems there are in our area and giving ideas to solve these problems. This is a project that an NGO works in all over the world (in a lot of countries). This NGO is called Design for Change.
This is the video we watched in class but you can find more videos on youtube. The videos are in different languages. We are learning English, so our project (photos, video whatever you decide) is going to be in English.

For homework, we are going to have a ‘Talk Show’ with an interview about activities we do. Prepare the questions, please. And think of two or three things you don’t like in your neighbourhood and make a list (in English).

Enjoy your week and relax because we have a lot of things to do next week. We have to prepare ‘Flipped class’, play ‘Japanese whispers’, talk about our project…
